The Community of Protestant Churches in Europe (CPCE) wants to strengthen the voice of the next generation. So from 18 to 20 April 2007 it held an international consultation with 30 young men and women between 20 and 35 years of age from 17 countries who have a special interest in ecumenical topics. This consultation is the starting point of a one-year study phase.
The consultation and the study phase are principally concerned with the following questions: What is the specific contribution of the Protestant churches to today’s social challenges? How are the churches developing their social standpoints? What is to be the central focus of church standpoints? What are the practical consequences?
The study phase is to work out the specific presuppoisitons and criteria for the development of ethical judgments on social challenges. The results of the consultation and the study phase are on the one hand to help the CPCE member churches to strengthen and co-ordinate their activities and on the other to speak as often as possible with a common voice.
